Welcome;

The Bristol Ultimate Draft League aim is to introduce new people to the game of ultimate and raise the profile of ultimate in Bristol by creating a social and competitive ultimate league. The teams will be formed on a draft basis to create as evenly matched as possible and to allow new people to learn quickly in a team environment. It will also hopefully provide good level competitive ultimate for experienced players. A possible slight change this time as Mythago(bristol uni) and BLT (bath uni) have both expressed an interest in entering the league as a team to get weekly team play. As the league will conveniently run up until students nationals. cardiff? uwe?

How it works;

You register completing the form below and return ASAP to juan84ultimate@yahoo.co.uk with your details and your history/skill level of ultimate Frisbee. Teams will then be drafted from this information into squads of around 12 players. 1 captain/coach will be needed for each team to help new players learn the rules, new skills and feel involved quickly in your team.

Where and When;

Broadplain RFC, St. john’s lane, Bedminster Bristol. BS3 5AZ

Due to space constraints some weeks you will be playing first game others second game. Please aim to arrive at 6.45 if on first game, get changed as the first game will start at 7pm sharp. When the lights go on! Second game will start at 8.10 until 9.15 pm.

The pavilion will be available to provide changing and toilet facilities and will be open until 11pm with a licensed bar – why not stick around and watch the 2nd game with a drink?

On Tuesday the 13th of January we'll run an intro and coaching session fro new players to pick up some skills, tactics and terminology! Pickup for everyone else or chance to meet your team get tactics etc organised!

The league will start in full on Tuesday the 20th of January.

The league will have 4 teams – 6 weeks of round robin games then a final for the top 2 teams on the 3rd of March. Followed by an end of season party and prize giving!

You don't have to come every week - just state in the commitment section of the registration form how often you'll get there, however, the more you come the cheaper each session is!

Games;

Games will be 65 mins. At the hooter the game finishes! If drawing, check the disc then the point will be finished as sudden death. After 5mins of sudden death the game will end as a draw – next game needs to start or the lights will turn off! . Games will be 7v7 with an aim of at least a 5 men, 2 women gender split.

Cost;

£20 per player to cover the cost of hiring the pitches and the use of the pavilion and the floodlights. £15 to people who have never played ultimate before £130 university team entry

0 never played before, never thrown a Frisbee 1 never played before, have thrown a Frisbee 2 played before, but only once or twice 3 played before, can throw a sidearm, have good catching 4 played before, good throws and catching. Have a idea of the rules. 5 played before, know the rules, what a stack, force,etc is, played a couple of proper games. 6 played for a team at tournaments good solid ultimate player. know what zone d is 3,4 etc. 7 pretty useful! play lots of ultimate at a competitive level. 8 1st team material... 9 bit of a star, top player at UK A tour level 10 International super star!
