Cork Open 2007 (Ireland) November 3rd-4th

Due to demand the Cork Open 2007 is a 20 team tournament instead of 16 as in the past. This year will see Irish college and club teams mix it up with teams from Italy (4 including defending champions Cota Rica), Belgium, Luxembourg and Northern Ireland. There is ONE team spot left. Individuals who want to discover Irelands real capital can sign up for the Pick Ups (5 spots left). Visit www.uccultimate.com and follow the link to see who’s coming, email as below to enter. Drink Murphy’s Stout and Barry’s Tea.

Hey all, It's that time again: registration is now open for teams to enter the 4th annual Cork Open. This 20 team open tournament caters for a mixture of home grown Irish talent as well as a host of teams from abroad. It's the last grass tournament of the season and provides a mix of good quality ultimate (7 games per team over the two days) and fantastic parties, which we're famous for down here in the real capital.

Last year saw 11 Irish teams square up against two teams from Italy, one from the UK and two pick up teams of players from all over the world. To sign up please mail us at corkopen@uccultimate.com.

Payment Team fees are for 7 quality games of ultimate, breakfast at the venue on both mornings, two parties and a team pack. The costs are:

€180 or £120 per team €15 or £10 per player pick-up

Most Valuable Player of the Final: Cian Ó Móráin (Johnny Chimpo)

A truly memorable tournament, one of the best ever held on Irish soil (but then I would say that, wouldn't I?!). The Belgian-Irish final was undoubtedly one of the highest quality and most spectacular matches ever seen in Ireland, and with a roaring crowd under floodlights. Congratulations to FuF for their Spirit and to Cian for his MVP. I’d like to add my (unofficial) commendations to Haggis (Chimpo) and numbers 7 and 12 from FuF. And no rain, again…! Must be Cork’s sub-tropical micro-climate ;-)
