Frisbee tournaments in Ireland / Siege of Limerick 2012

Ladies and gentlemen, It is my immense privilege to inform you that Irelands premier tournament, The siege of Limerick, will be returning to the University of Limerick on the 25th and 26th of February of 2012. The Siege will take place on UL’s new all-weather fields on the North campus. Tournament matches will be held on eight state-of-the-art synthetic pitches with changing facilities and hot showers available on site! Lunch facilities will be available adjacent to the pitches so no long distances to travel! We will be running both a men’s and women’s tournament, with spaces for up to 32 teams to compete overall. The team fee will be 300 euro and 350 euro for late entries. Bids will be opening on the 31st of October. They close on the 1st of January. Providing there is enough interest we will have a pickup team so if your team is unable to travel you can still come along and enjoy a weekend of Frisbee and Fun in the land of Ultimate Craic. So I hear you asking yourself that’s all well and good but what am I getting for my teams 300 euro. The answer is:

• Pitches: These are the biggest cost associated with running this year’s siege, they are a major improvement on the fields that have been used in the past allowing people to play 7 high quality games over the weekend. The new synthetic pitches will improve the standard of the tournament and hence people’s experience and fun over the weekend.

• Food: There will be food provided to all teams. We hope to be able to provide every player with a hot meal on both days of a burger/hotdog and pasta as part of the fee. We are also looking into a hot breakfast on both days but this is still in the very early stages of development and will be announced later if it is possible.

• Party: There will be a party on both night’s themes and details to be released later all teams will get into both parties free and we hope to have more to announce about this soon.

• Trophies: Open, Women’s, plates, wooden spoon, medals, etc.

• Prizes: Spirit, MVP (others to be announced later)

• Discs: Pitch discs etc.

• Volunteer packages: We will be providing a package of a free disc, t-shirt and other items to be decided at a later date to any volunteers for the siege.
