Czech Republic has been selected to host the WFDF World Ultimate Club Championships from July 3rd - July 10th (optional 10th - 18th). The location of the event will be at the Stahov and Slavia areas of Prague. Over 100 teams represent 30 nations will gather to compete for the world title.
The event will be organised by the Czech Flying Disc Association. They have previously organised the European Ultimate Club Championships in 2001. The WFDF World Ultimate Club Championships were last held in Perth Australia in 2006. Prague is one of the most beautiful and historic cities in Europe.
Ultimate is a flying disc team sport played on a grass field with end zones. Teams advance the disc with aerodynamic throws, with one point scored for each catch in the end zone. In games to 17, the athletes must possess an incredible combination of endurance, speed, agility, technique and teamwork combined with a strong commitment to fair play in top competition without referees. This timeley variation on sport reflects the importance of self-restraint. The athletes must arbitrate their own calls in the heat of competition using a refined system of rules. Invented in 1968, oraganized competition now takes place on six continents.
The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) is the international governing body for flying disc sports including ultimate, freestyle, guts, and many field events. The rise of these sports parallels the invention of plastic. WFDF is an established member of the General Alliance of International Sports Federations (GIASF), the International World Games Assocation (GAISF) and the International Council for Sport Science and Physical Education.
July is the hottest and sunniest month in Central Europe, with average monthly temperature of 19 °C, 65 °F
There will be 2 areas located in Prague and connected with shuttle buses – Strahov and Slavia area (transport time 20 min).
The main area with accommodation, dining-hall and 20 ultimate fields (Adress: Diskařská 100 169 00 Praha-Břevnov)
The second area with playing fields 21-33 and the main stadium which will be used for the Opening and Closing ceremonies – including opening game and final games. (Adress: Vladivostocká 1460/2 100 00 Praha-Vršovice)
Strahov Staduim is massive! The second largest Stadium in the world. Worlds are going to rock there. The Czechs will certainly put on a good show.
En 2007 vi estos campos desde Petrinska Rozhledna y me imaginé jugando ahí. Ahora puede ser toda una realidad! Increíble!
